learn in 10 minutes

Do not sleep keeping your head in North Direction.
In India, you would have noticed people have been told not to sleep keeping their head in North Direction.
Do you know why?
There is a scientific reason behind it.
While you are standing or sitting, your pulse rate is usually higher. That’s because heart must pump the blood to brain against the gravity forces. This takes extra effort to pump the blood to upper part of your body compared to lower parts.
And when you sleep, your body is positioned horizontally and the pulse rate is reduced immediately. The heart makes this adjustment because if blood is pumped at the same level, too much blood gets into your brain causing a severe damage.
Now you will ask me what this has to do with keeping our heads in North direction while sleeping.
Our blood contains 70% of the total Iron in our body.
Magnetic forces of the North Pole that causes the compass to deflect towards north can influence the blood flow to the brain more than needed.
This magnetic pull causes the pressure on your brain.
Due to the increased blood pressure caused by this position, it is said that people will experience disturbed sleep in addition to experiencing some problems in the blood circulation especially to the brain.
If you are beyond a certain age and your blood vessels are weak, you could have paralytic strokes and permanent damages.
As they say picture speaks thousand words, below image would help you understand the sleeping directions.

So, this was the whole idea of why our elders were asking us not to sleep in North Direction.
Hope this was worth reading.
